This coat is based on an original coat held in the National Maritime Museum Greenwhich. Made from Navy blue felted wool, it’s half lined in white linen (the original is totaly unlined apart from the sleeves which were lined with white cotton). The chain device button hole at the collar (which denoted the rank of surgeon at this date) is a machine done interpretation on this one, hand embroidered repros can also be commisioned. Also this one has a generic button, but repros can be commisioned as well, contact us to discuss costs etc of these options. Please be sure to check out all the views, and contact us if you have any further questions. We also have a surgeons style costume of this date available for hire as well, so please be sue to check out our hire page for more info on this item.
