Royal Horse Artillery Dolman, Napoleonic/Regency.
This particular jacket was made for a re-enactor client of ours, it is based on historical reference, and other Dolmans, to ensure correct number of frogs buttons etc. As usual with our costumes, we use the correct seamlines for the era. This one has shoulder straps, as it is for a mounted trooper, and will be worn as such, and thus these keep the leather work etc in place when riding. Also made with external functioning side pockets, which can be seen with the photographs, it has pronounced fins at the lower back, and also a functioning splt cuff which fasten with heavy brass hook and eyes. Please note that we can make these using different number of frogs, and different braid designs etc, and we can also make the Victorian versions of these as well of course. We can also make up this same design as an officer or a quarter master if you so wished, so these are made with gold braid instead of yellow, and for the quater master, a cloth shoulder strap the same colour as the facings would be used. An officer can be made with no shoulder straps but a trefoil design on the cuff, and using scarlet facings instead of this soldiers red, but of course please contact us to discuss any designs you like, and of course the more elaborate officers dolmans can be made as well.
